Sandy Hill Arts is an artistic hub located in Corfe in the shadow of the iconic castle ruins and alongside the Swanage steam railway. Formed as a charity in February 2021 to promote and develop visual and performing arts in Purbeck it runs a rich programme of creative workshops, courses, events, and exhibitions.

The centre is home to some 18 artists and makers with onsite studios and the location also includes the Boilerhouse Gallery, showcasing resident artists’ work, available to buy. There is a permanent exhibition or classroom space which is available for hire and is ideal for teaching courses and workshops.

In 2022 Sandy Hill Arts received an Arts Council grant to help towards producing a website and commissioned Tidal Studios to design and build it. After a couple of meetings a concise brief was formulated. The website needed to both promote the centre’s many activities and act as a booking portal for its many events and courses.

We designed the website from scratch, using images of the artists’ work and archived images provided. The website has a contemporary, unfussy design to enable the stunning work of the artists to stand out. A bespoke navigation menu guides users easily around the many facets of the site and the site is optimised for all devices.

The booking system was researched and a suitable system was installed and configured. Site administrators can easily create new events and courses which can then be booked online by users. Payments are taken securely by Stripe online and a log of payments can be accessed in the site’s backend.
