Filby Builders are an independent, family-owned building company based in Brighton. They had become increasingly successful in the Brighton and wider East Sussex region and specialised in extensions, loft conversions and major residential refurbishments. When they approached Tidal Studios in 2018 they had been in business for over 40 years yet still did not have a website or web presence.

We were tasked in not only designing and building the company website but in helping the business compete for more affluent projects. The site would also act as a portfolio of the company’s previous work as much of their existing tendering process was taken up with emailing images and providing guided tours of their completed projects.

We started by designing a company brand. We evolved a logo consisting of simple lettering around an ‘F’ motif that inferred a series of rooflines. Brand colours were a contemporary blue and burgundy and all fonts were simple sans serif. The design was kept simple and direct, allowing the images of the various projects to take priority. A combination of supplied images and stockshots were used to illustrate the various services and we wrote all the copy to be search engine optimised.
