Shelter from the Storm
The coronavirus pandemic has caused widespread commercial disruption particularly to the hospitality and entertainment sector. Restricted opening times, the Rule of Six, physical distancing and enforced temporary closure have hit the industry hard. Pubs, restaurants, hotels, live performance venues and festivals have all been adversely affected and the security of the sector’s workforce is extremely fragile.
Tidal Studios has tried to do ‘our bit’ for our many clients in this sector. From the outset we offered to update and amend our clients’ websites with up-to-date coronavirus announcements without charge. Not only does the prosperity of our clients have a direct impact on our own business but felt it would be unethical to profit from the pandemic.
Switching tack at Lake Yard
One of our clients affected by the Covid-19 restrictions was Lake Yard, a marina and boathouse situated in Poole Harbour. Lake Yard has a restaurant, bar and club house, very popular with members and guests alike, which employs around 20 people. From the outset, the management swung into action and asked us to create a series of pop-ups on their website to keep their clientele informed of the latest restrictions. They then switched their operations to providing takeaway food and drinks, which not only generated an income but maintained several valuable jobs. The menus are updated weekly and offer a wide range of mouthwatering, freshly-prepared dishes including local seafood and seasonal favourites. Tidal Studios created new web pages for their takeaway and delivery service as well as the Lake Yard Larder, where people could order grocery deliveries. An updated website pop-up notification enables users to link directly to these pages to view menus and place orders.
Lake Yard has been a Tidal Studios client since 2018 and we have been involved with much of their marketing material, producing advertisements for local and national publications as well as posters, flyers, signage, business cards and even a Lake Yard burgee/flag. We designed and built their new website which went live in November 2019 and before the coronavirus pandemic were kept busy updating site with details of forthcoming events and promotions.
