The Wilkswood Reggae Festival is an annual music event taking place in the Purbeck countryside in Dorset. The first festival was held over a single day in 2016 and it was greatly expanded in 2017 to feature a stellar line-up over three days and with an expanded capacity. Tidal Studios was involved from the festival’s inception and was commissioned in early 2017 to produce and develop the festival’s brand and audience reach.
A new logo was designed to provide identity; it has an interchangeable function in order to accommodate different line-ups for each festival. The logo was used across a range of printed materials including posters, flyers, banners, t-shirts, wristbands and advertisements.
Tidal Studios designed and built a responsive content managed website with strong SEO function, including crafted copywriting and social media integration. A news blog allows news stories about ticket sales, artists and other promotions to be easily uploaded and shared to Facebook. By careful targeting, the Facebook page gained over 4,900 Likes and news posts consistency achieved a Reach of over 15,000 views. A post in July 2018 publicising the festival line-up reached an audience of over 89,000 with 5,132 engagements.
An ecommerce merchandise page was produced for the website selling t-shirts (to be either posted or collected from the festival office); this facility was later expanded to sell a wider range of products.
A festival programme was designed and produced providing festival goers with daily set lists for each stage and a map showing the various stages, food stalls, facilities and other entertainment; the map was also produced as several banners around the festival site.
Tidal Studios wrote two press releases prior to the festival and delivered them to a range of national and local news publications as well as many music magazines and websites; several media outlets, including Bournemouth Echo and Visit Dorset, ran the main press releases.
In 2019, the festival changed its name to the Wilkswood Roots Reggae Festival following a change of ownership. Tidal Studios has continued to be involved in the marketing although to a lesser degree. Because the website is built using CMS, the organisers have been able to administer the content themselves.
